Greenwich Living Antique & Design Center was selected to acquire the estate of the late Ann Pollon. Ms. Pollon was the daughter of world-renowned conceptual artist Ursula Meyer. Ursula Meyer passed in 2003 after dedicating her life to the arts. Meyer had a number of successful solo exhibitions at various galleries throughout the 60's, including the Amel Gallery, Sachs Gallery, and The Smithsonian. None of her work has previously been available to the public. In conducting our research, we tapped museum curator and art historian James Archer Abbott to write an in depth account of the artists' work.
Ursula Meyer taught at Hunter College from 1953 to 1968 and retired as a professor from Lehman College in 1981. Her work was exhibited largely in the New York Metropolitan area and is represented in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum and the Newark Museum. Works are also featured in private collections both here and in Europe. In 1983, Meyer was a recipient of a CAPS grant for "Baby Gods: The Palace Wall." (Meridian, 1984)
Largely consisting of sculptures, sketches, etchings and drawings, the collection also features unique smalls Meyer created. All of which is accompanied by documentation beginning from the 1960's - 1980's. Each and every piece are captivating in their own respect, but the documentation is especially fascinating. each of her sculptures prior to beginning her work. This allows for a unique look inside the creative process of one of the world's most prolific conceptual artists.
